Who Am I Living For?

"but just as we have been approved by God

to be entrusted with the gospel,

so we speak, not to please man,

but to please God who tests our hearts."

1 Thessalonians 2:4

I have great people in my life.  I know that their goal is to never discourage or harm me, but sometimes they do.  I am one lucky duck because God has called me to do amazing things and I have known that for a long time. But for years there have also been a lot of loose ends.  There were always strings of dreams hanging about my head and I didn't know which braid they belonged in. It was frustrating! And very recently God has started to weave those loose ends and strung out dreams into a masterpiece on his loom and I am so excited. I am SO excited!

Unfortunately, not everyone is as excited for me as I am for myself.  Today I was really feeling discouraged and decided to look up encouraging verses for missionaries and 1 Thessalonians 2:4 popped up.  Thank you, God.

"So we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts."  If I continue to live the way that others want me to live my life, I will be pushing God's call away from me.   Even though I appreciate suggestions and nudges in other directions from people I know what God has called me to do.  I have waited so long to watch God weave my tapestry.  I refuse to let someone make me doubt God because of something they say.  God's word and call on my life will always usurp a person, no matter how close they are to me.

Sometimes people may not like the call God has placed on your life.  Sometimes people don't believe God can use you where you are.  Sometimes people are afraid of change, and your call may ultimately change their life.

Whatever the reason you are discouraged.  Remember Jeremiah 29:11.  "For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord.  "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you.  Plans to give you a hope and a future." God is the one who has the plan for your life.  You are living for no one but Him.  Your goal in life is never to please other people, it is to please God.

God's call is always to Carpe Diem, Dear, so do it.
